God of war 2 great chasm trouble

I've searched the forum and from what I understand this is where the 2nd layer comes into play and for some people they have trouble here.

whats happening for me is that the Icarus cutscene fails to appear and when I run over the bridge I just fall and die.

what can be done to remedy this?

i will just copy and paste what i said in a previous topic with the same problem

i had the same problem ages ago, there is no fix so i end up buying the game instead, i wasted a whole pack of dual layers on both god of war games (dual layer are expensive in europe too) because the modchip cannot find the second layer and it doesn't load. and it doesn't matter if you apply the patch or not the second layer will not load.

But mine has been seperated into two DVD5s, would it be the ISO file or the CD writer?

it's not your dvd burner it happens with the dvd9 version aswell, well in my case it did.

it's up to you what you want to do at this point, you can buy the game and play without interruptions or figure out a way to get the game running and i've yet to find a solution myself i searched for days when i had this problem and there was no solution so it's up to you.

While I had no trouble at the great chasm point of the game I did have a similar issue with portions of the game going black and not rendering. I am using a rebuilt version of gow2 with sm 3.8. To remedy the problem I had it was necessary to pause and restart the game several times just prior to the "black screen" parts. I don't know if this will work for you since I never had trouble when the game transitioned into a mini game like the icarus part. You could try to rebuild the game with the methods posted here.
