HI,
I used to back up my owned DVD movies with inexpensive programs that removed the copy protection, and simply made a back ups to another Dvd.

That was 3 years ago and I have over 500 movies backed up. My nephew asked me how to rip his Dvd movies to his hard drive so they could be played from there or copied to a different Ipod device to play?

Is there a program like the old free DVD DeCrYPTER, (it was removed) or something similar to advise him to use.? He just wants to copy the ?protected movie from the DVD to his hard drive and play it off the Hard Drive with the copy protection removed.

Thanks for your advice, as I never used the hard drive other than a buffer, where the DVd was ripped and then copied to the target DVD as a backup.

What program(s) free if available, do you recommend today for this simple procedure? Or a trial one that can be purchased. I used to use the free trial of Anydvd, then purchased it for CSS removal in the background. I never ripped to my hard drive to store or play. Maybe you can advise me of how to do this and what easy software to to tell my nephew to use?

Again, Thanks so much, as always.

Miles

Well all you need is this program to rip DVD's into AVI or MPEG format. The program isn't free so here edited by ddp is the serial key.Choose the version you downloaded and enter it into the prgram to make it unlimited use.
When the ripping is finished, you can use this player to play it.The reason for this player,is because it can handle most formats.(Free)
Enjoy!

Thanks a lot bulldogz,
What a great answer and 3 gifts!! I really don't know how to thank you enough? Couldn't my WIN XP Multi Media player also play the ripped contents from this program? As you know this is for my nephew in Michigan. If I had to do this, I think I could still use my ICLICKDVDCOPY program with Anydvd which I bought and just leave the intermediary stripped copy to the hard drive buffer instead of writing it back to a blank DVD making the backup. Anyway, I will get these and Email them to him with my great appreciation for your help.

Sincerely,

Miles

bulldogz,
I was unable to find the 5.1 key version that corresponds to the 5.1 Magic DVD ripper. Can I use the key co9de for the 5.0 version?

Thanks,

Miles

ddp,
I was only responding to a question reply that I initially asked regarding a way to Rip DVD movies owned by my nephew, to run off his HD.

I apologize for any rule violation, as It was not apparent to me and I will no longer post reading these issues.

I do note that there are other areas of your forum where active communication takes place concerning FTA Satellite receivers!!!
