Hi everyone... new here! I'm kind of a newbie but i get this stuff. anyways here's my problem... i got an ISO file and i already did a test burn... turned out great but it has a region code of 2. Since I'm in America i can't burn and play it unless i have a region free DVD player... so i hope someone can help me on this!? I just simply need to get rid of the region code. It would be helpful if you gave more detailed directions... thanks in advance!!!

Programs like AnyDVD and DVD Region+CSS Free run in the background and make all DVDs appear region-free to the OS and DVD drive.

Free software like DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink can be used to decrypt and make the disk content region-free when reburned. Both programs are relatively old and are no longer updated/supported and may not work if your disk has more sophisticated copy protection features. Both programs work fine on any disk as long as AnyDVD or something similar is also running in the background. Another possibility is the free program DVDFab Decrypter.

None of the above will overcome broadcast standard differences which exist among some of the region codes, i.e., NTSC, PAL, SEACAM. You need other programs to convert from one standard to another if that's an issue.

There are two region checks, OS and burner hardware. If you place a R2 disk into a R1 player, it'll ask if you want to change the burner region code to match. There are only 5 total changes allowed before the burner stays with the last region "permanently." The region change limitation can be overcome by reflashing the firmware in some cases or with hacked firmware that allows for resetting the counter. Most who deal with a lot of out of region disks, either flash their burner's firmware to be region-free if the firmware exists or use AnyDVD in the background in order to avoid the hassle.
