So I have been trying to create a dedication video for all of the Harry Potter characters who died. I'm a nerd, I know. So I would like to use video clips for each character who died. I used a DVD decrypter program to rip the DVD to my computer, but I am really unsure how to put it into my video. Every time I try, it says the file is not supported. Can someone please explain what this means? How can I fix it? Do I need to use a different program?
If you've got some Harry Potter DVD's ripped to your hard drive, and you want to grab certain scenes from each one and make a compilation DVD, you could do that with DVD Shrink.
For example, use DVD Shrink to open the first DVD on your hard drive. Use Open Files to browse to your DVD folder, then switch to Re-Author mode and then drag the Main Title over to the left side window.
Now use the Start/End frames option in DVD Shrink (the blue Left/Right arrows icon) to select and save just the scene you want. To save that scene to a folder hit Backup and Shrink will think you want to burn a DVD for that scene but just Cancel at the burning part. Your scene will still be saved to your backup folder.
Save each scene you want from each DVD to a separate folder.
After you have all of your scenes saved, then open Shrink, Open Files and browse to the folder with the first scene you want to use. In Re-Author mode select the title and pull it over to the left side Compilation window.
Then browse to your next folder (on the right side window, click on the little black "v" in the drop down menu) and add the next title. Keep adding the titles to the left side window. When you're done, then hit Backup. That will burn your final DVD.
