Nintendo WiFi USB to SoftAP for a laptop

Hey guys,

I have read the tutorial on how to turn the Nintendo WiFi USB adapter into a softAP and for the most part, it worked. However, I was wondering if it only worked to connect the DS, PSP, and Wii wireless and not laptops. I wanted to get my laptop to connect wirelessly to the hacked USB adapter but my laptop can't seem to detect the signal being put out by the adapter. Any help would be appreciated.
