Is anyone familiar with DVD player software that can resolve sync issues on the fly? Ideally what I would like to find is a player where you can either pause the sound or fast forward it by a few milliseconds with the press of a button (as the video continues to play).

I seem to have a lot of issues with AVIs that are monstrously out of sync when I play them in either Media Player or Media Player Classic (but play fine on my Philips DVP642). I'm guessing that it's probably a codec issue, but, rather than getting into the somewhat formidable (to me) world of codecs, I'm hoping to find a player that can tweak the sound independently of the video as the movie plays.
