i was planning to purchase a new psu box and i was after some advice before wise.
im after one that will last long time and maybe be modular? where you can use only the wires you need. 600w is minimum.
Also i like buying online so links to sites in the uk to buy would be nice.
cheers

Cheers for the replies.
I like the look of that psu, is it better than the thermaltake 750w you have in your signature sam?

I've had a Hiper, and they're alright, but there have been a few too many problems reported with them recently for me to recommend one. I'd stick with the Corsair.

The wattage is irrelevant,
a) it's from ebay, I wouldn't buy a power supply off ebay
b) it looks tacky, I've never heard of the brand
c) it's too cheap for a 1000W PSU.
All you'll ever need for any gaming PC is a 600W PSU, so buy the Corsair and have done with it, that power supply's awful.

alright then if you say the corsair is enough i think i'll go for that, one more thing is the thermaltake toughpower 750w better than it? if yes how much it cost?

It's a similar price, but it's noisier if you need that much power. Unlike the Corsair it's a single rail PSU, but I haven't heard of any problems with Corsair as far as power draw goes. I'd happily recommend either, depends whether you give a damn about noise or not. If you don't, go with whatever you can find cheapest. Avoid buying power supplies off ebay though.

No problem. All I usually talk about in the field of power supplies is persuading people not to buy cheap-ass PSUs that are obviously going to cause issues. Sadly a lot of people ignore that advice and later pay the price, fortunately you haven't!

The thought 'ooh I have a powerful PC I'll need a 1000W PSU' is a common myth that's becoming increasingly prevalent in forums, but the fact is, as long as you buy a decent power supply, it really isn't true. There are wimp 600W units that can barely put out 200W, which is probably how the market for extreme power supplies came about. The problem was, people thought 600W wasn't enough, rather than just that the power supply they had was crap!
