my grandpa has bought a new set up, designed to capture his VHS tapes onto his computer, then arrange them as he wants and burn them to a DVD. we burned 2 video clips that he had captured and saved (about 5-9 mins long). we burned them to a DVD RW disc, but when we put the disc into his DVD player that is connected to his TV, it doesn't play at all. We also tryed in on my uncles with the same result. it will play in the computers 2 DVD players just fine. is there any kind of specific format the DVD OR the actual media needs to be in?

he is running WIndows Vista if that could be of any help and the program I THINK is roxio Record Now i think

much help needed, thanks

Either check the DVD player manual to find out the type of DVD it will accept (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW) or go to the link and put in the model number.

we know that the DVD is compatible with the player, it burned the 2 Clips on the DVD, and the computer shows the 2 clips to be on there in its other drive (DVD reader only) so the clips are on there its just they dont play on the DVD player on the TV. (totally seperate from the computer)

thanks.

I wasn't clear enough.
I meant that it should be verified that the standalone player can actually play the type of DVD that was used in the burn.
Can the player read DVD RW (+ or -)?

I assume the disk was authored as a DVD (a movie) and not that the files were simply copied to the disk?
A DVD disk contains two folders, AUDIO_TS which is empty and VIDEO_TS which contains the actual movie.
