Hey,
I play alot of games during my free time such as rose evolution and ruff rose bots corum and flyff (wow in future). But lately its all been crashing my pc. So ive been thinking about building a new pc but I dont know what type of motherboard is appropriate for gaming such as the games mentioned above and video editing as well as web development software. Any ideas on what type of mother board i should use.

If you do't want to spend the cash for a new PC you could simply reinstall windwos to get "fresh start" since this would clean your PC of any spyware/adware crap you may have gotten. On the other hand if you really want to build a new PC post your budget and I will post some PC configurations that meet that budget.

I agree with peainapod, crashes don't usually happen just because a PC is old, they're usually due to software issues.

I forgot to ask are your running antivirus and antispyware programs? If so what are they? Can you post a hijack this log, so we can see what may be slowing your pc down.

A bit, I do a average job of reading them and I am getting better. For logs I am having real trouble with I scan them here http://www.hijackthis.de . After pasting your log into the box and "scanning" it the site tells you what is safe, whats malicious, what it is unsure about. It gets all this information from people adding "bad entries" to its database. It's fast and I have yet to encounter a false positive with the sites system/scanner.

I would recommend you get the intel coreduo 6300, that's the low end least expensive model. You mention you want it also for video editing and this processor impressed me with the speed. As far as gaming this cpu is overkill for that so it will definitely work fine in that regard. It's played every game I throw at it.
As far as motherboard, you need to decide if you want agp/pci video card support, I got the cpu/motherboard combo for $189.00. It's an inexpensive ecs elitegroup P4M800PR0-M, I've had this system for about a year with no problems.

Which is unusual considering how poor ECS boards are.
Buy the E6320 or E4400 CPU, they're getting pretty cheap now, and get a decent quality motherboard, or you could regret it.

I have seen firsthand how horrible the ECS boards are at overclocking. If you plan to overclock and use one of these boards don't expect anything better then a 10% boost.

You're right, but when I played ruff-rose and rose evolution my Toshiba Laptop matched all the recent requirements to play it. It only crashed when i got to about lvl 40-50 on both ruff-rose and rose evolution so im thinking about setting up my own private server see if it doesnt crash if not then it just might be their server.

Lol I got ad-ware adwatch and antivirus. I use adware and adwatch alot. I use antivirus about once a month and only get about 3 viruses. during the 2 ad scans i get about 400 spyware in about 3 days. But it still remains the same speed accept when logging in.

rrose, don't multi-post as you have 5 posts in a row as you should have edited your 22. August 2007 @ 20:11 post to include your next posts.

I wasnt Multi Posting on purpose I was posting new message to different people not the same person so people wouldnt get confused. And of course the message would be last in the thread cause I was the last one replying to what that person wrote. It takes time for other people to reply.

what do you recommend then? everyone else recommends it and says their satisfyed. But then again thats your opinion you must have not known how to handle your video card properly otherwise you would have liked it. make sure your programs meets all the requirements b4 installing that program.

What people are part of the group that posted "everyone else recommends it". Because the GeForce 3 may have been a good card 8 years a go, it seriously sucks now. Heck these reviews you read about the card were probably many years old. If you are a casual gamer I would recommend a nVidia 7600 series card, decent framerates with todays games without breaking the bank. On the other hand if you plan on playing highend games like Bioshock and FEAR; then I would recommend a nVidia 8 series card like the 8600 or 8800.

I get about 30 fps with my 7600 GT(on Bioshock) so it's OKAY for NOW, but it wont be for long. Oh well when the 9 series cards some out Im going to get me a 8800 GTX. A 8800 GTS is a well balanced card between price and performance.

the geforce 3 was a great card, back in about 2000, but the fact is, you haven't been able to buy them new for several years. They're ancient. Video cards aren't just things that you buy and that'll do the job (like a TV), they become more and more powerful all the times, just as games become increasingly demanding.
