i have a sony tv and i have the cables ports for high definition (the standard red, white and yellow also with the blue green and i think another red one) does this mean its high definition because it doesn't say high def anywhere on the tv... someone please describe what this is for i was thinking it was a progressive scan but not entirely sure.

Those are called component inputs which are a very good connection method and would be needed for a progressive scan capable DVD player or games console. They are often confused with composite connections (Red , white , & yellow) which are at the bottom of the quality scale.
You need HDMI, or DVI connections for HD video signals. Your TV is not HD ready.

PC Specs: CPU-C2D E8400, M/B-P5N-E SLI, RAM 4Gig OCZ Platinum rev2 ,VGA- Nvidia 8800GT 512MB, HDD- Hitachi Deskstar SATAII 1TB, 250Gig Maxtor IDE HDD.

i Have a PS2 connected by Component and it looks far far better than Scart, S-video and of course composite.
Component is the best analogue connection you can get for video.
