Hello to everyone and thank you in advance for your patience in reading and if any, for replying on my question.

I have two computers, a laptop and a standard tower pc, which both computers have tv out on their cards. i connect my pcs on the tv and i can clearly see the desktop. Even more i can very clearly see the movies that are from rented dvds with power dvd player.
But when it comes to the time for me to play a avi, or mpeg or sth like that files, at the window that it was supposed to play the movie (on the TV screen) it has this black screen, although on the screen of my laptop i can see that the movie is playing. I have used many programs like winamp, bsplayer etc etc but the result is the same. What do i do wrong?

(for informational reasons i use a s-video cable connected to a scatter)
Thank you.

hello

Not really sure but it could be that your telly can only re-produce only PAL or Only NTSC signals.
Maybe the files on the HDD are the wrong format. Are they the same format of the DVD'd you watched?

PC Specs: CPU-C2D E8400, M/B-P5N-E SLI, RAM 4Gig OCZ Platinum rev2 ,VGA- Nvidia 8800GT 512MB, HDD- Hitachi Deskstar SATAII 1TB, 250Gig Maxtor IDE HDD.

i wouldn't know that but i suppose not...
I believe the problem's source is that the one is a divx (usually) encoded file and the other has a different compilation (a standard dvd)...

because you can see the video picture on your laptop, its got to be something to do with the s-video connection type and / or the video format of the file you are trying to play.
PAL or NTSC doesn't matter to a PC but it does to a tv.
Most modern TV's support both but I had a goodmans that was about eight years old that only supportewd PAL signals.

try changing your TV to the primary display device.
