I have looked at all these other threads trying to find the answer to my problem but nothing seems to work.

I'm running windows vista and nero 7 with the update found on their site. I still get an error message saying could not perform end of disk-at-once at any speed I burn at. I am also trying to burn onto memorex dvds.

Here's the error code I get from DVD Shrink:

It took me long enough to figure out I needed to run DVD Shrink in administrator mode to even get this far.

Please help I'm really lost.

Hi txhick817
1st switch the media you are using. The Memorex you have are made by CMC - not the best by far.
Try Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

You might not a firmware update too but I can't find one in a quick search. If this drive came w/ the pc/laptop check the manufacturers site for an update.

I have a xps m2010 and the burner came with the drive. I couldn't find any updated firmware anywhere. I'll try the a different media today.

There may not be a firmware update. PC manufacturers are not the best at keeping the drives up to date when it comes to firmware and having more support for media codes.
The illegal disc error usually means that - no support for the media code in the firmware.
Keep us posted.

I went out and bought a pack of sony dvd-R and no luck. Could the outdated firmware(that I can't fix)be the problem?

Yep it sure could be the problem.
Did the new failed burn log show an illegal disc error also?

For this drive you would probably do better with 8x or lower media.

It still says there is an illegal disc error. I still don't get how I could burn 2 movies and then errors pop up.

Now I'm actually using DVDs that are rated at 16x and had warning saying to upgrade the firmware so they take 16x media. Are you saying I need to find media only rated at 8x or lower and if so where would I find something like that? Would they even make 8x media anymore?

If the firmware doesn't support the media the drive will use a generic write pattern - doesn't always fail but doesn't always work. So can be hit or miss.
Yep I mean media rated no higher then 8x. It should hopefully be more supported with your drive. I can't find much on this drive so I'm not sure what year your firmware is from though.
Your right it's not always the easiest to find in store.

Where are you located - there's several online sites that carry it.
