Nokia 9290 PLEASE HELP!!!

I was given a Nokia 9290 by a friend from the U.S. and I'm currently in the Philippines. I can't seem to use this here and I was wondering if there is any way I could use my SIM on this phone here in the Philippines.

Or is there a different way I could convert this so that I could use this unit here? There is a similar unit but it's called 9210.

Can someone please help?
