i'm curious about purchasing this game.. i really want to play it, on the other hand i'm confused.
my confusion has nothing to do with whether or not it's worth the $50.. but rather it seems more like a rental than a purchase to me.
from what ive been told, when installing the game you must register online.. and that you can only register the same key 5 times.
so, does this mean that, if i reformat a couple of times or upgrade my hard drive, or even upgrade to a better computer that after only 5 reinstallations i'd have to buy a new copy?
can anyone confirm this? if it's true i'll go with the XBOX360 version, or none, but that'd be a shame :<
To keep the game from being mass pirated the games creators 2K game studios implemented a DRM system that requires each install to register on there servers and you can install the game 5 times. Now this is good and bad. The good is you can legally install this onto any 5 PC's, you could of course install a game like this before onto many PC's but they couldn't play online without using hacks/cracks no more with this 5 user license. The not so bad is that lets say you are going to reformat, well uninstalling the game will deactivate that registration essentially giving you 1 more registration back. Ah, but what if my hard drive becomes corrupted and I can't unisntall the game, you ask. Well a call to 2K Games tech support can fix that. They will access your "account" which is really nothing more than a list of PC names tied to your serial number and they will remove any invalid/unneeded activations giving you back the one you lost from your harddrive crash. Yes it is a pain, but piracy costs game developers money and until there is a solution for this systems like this will continue to be implemented in todays games.

that alone puts me at ease, i dont know how i could have missed that anywhere else..
if uninstalling the game gives me back a credit, than i have no worries, thanks a lot.
No problem. Yeah I don't know what everyone here is flying off the handle about its not a big deal this registration thing, its no different that windows xp activation.
