Help with logitech usb microphone

I recently purchased a logitech handheld usb microphone and I am trying to listen to what i am saying on it live through my speakers without recording it. I am just a small time dj at an occasional party. I would like to pause the music and make announcments with the microphone. I use windows media player to play my mp3s. I have a creative x-fi extreme gamer sound card. I have it hooked up to an onkyo tx-sr605 reciever using spdif or multichannel analogue connections. Do I need any special software or what settings do I need to change for it to work?
