need some help please... for several months, my wife's laptop DVD writer which is a NEC ND-6750A was fine writing to a DVD-R. Yesterday and day before yesterday it stopped and gave an illegal disc and Burn Process Failed error. I'm using a Nero 7. I've pasted below the error message.

DMA needs to be enabled...here is a guide: http://www.burningbits.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2986

Nero Version: 7.0.0.0
Nero is a little dated...this version has been out for a couple years an update may see advantages.

This is Nero's own packet writing software that can throw a monkey wrench into the works...I would suggest removing upon the upgrade.

Firmware is a little behind...try version 2.T2 from here: http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/en/NEC-ND-6750A/

Burning a little too slow...I would recommend 8X, but not below 4X.

yah man, thanks much for the help! i'll do these things that you told... with regards to the write speed, it was writing at 8x before.... now, i discovered that its still writing on DVD+Rs and DVD+RWs. it only stops writing on DVD-Rs.
But i'll still try to do what you suggested, because i still have 68 pcs of these DVD-Rs (imation and Roco).

thanks again man, have a nice day!

You are very welcome...

9 times out of 10 the problem exist because of dated firmware or cheap media or a combination of the two. Imation aren't the best and some have no problems with them, but if the compatability isn't there you need to move to another brand...I've never heard of the other brand you mentioned. Good luck and keep us posted.
