an someone please explain the difference to me. I am looking at pretty much identical notebooks and this seems like it is the only difference.

The core 2 duo is better. The core 2 duo is newer, and uses less power. It is also faster.

Ok. What about Core Duo vs. pentium dual core? Are they basically the same thing?

well the core duo is newer, so I believe it would be better. What are the mhz that each processor is that you are looking at?

Its got a faster processor, and a bigger HDD.

Do you think I should upgrade to 2GB of memory. It comes with 1, but it says it is expandable to 2GB. Thanks for your help!

Yes, you should. If you plan on running Vista, then you will need 2 gigs of ram. I have 3, and am running XP. (I do alot of gaming, and video stuff, so I need it.)
