Hi all,

I try to backup lord of the rings DVD9 movie. I ripped the whole movie to my HDD using smart ripper, then IFO edit to split the main movie titleset and put all the necessary titlesets + VIDEO_TS files + extras on each of the split DVDs. Then I edit the chapter number in VIDEO_TS.IFO files on each split DVD as well.

Then I process the VTS sectors, and as far as I know my DVD should be ready for burning...

I use then Record Now Dx to create a data disc with 'track at once, closed', and Joliet up to 106, plus Joliet, 8+3 (bridge) option.

So far, so good... I did this both on a DVD-RW and a DVD-R

Everything plays GREAT on my PC.

The problem comes with the set top box. I have a Sony DVP-NS700 bought recently and said by Sony to be both DVD-R and DVD-RW compliant.

All I get when I load either my DVD-R or DVD-RW is a message C 13 00 that means according to the notice that the machine just can't read the DVD...

I feel a little bit desperate on that one...

Any help PLEASE ???

Have you tried different Media - I know all my rips work great on all my DVD's, but with Memorex Media the Goodmans DVD will not touch it.

THX !!! However I was using Pioneer DVDs abd they are so expensive that I could hardly imagine them as bad, that's why I choose them and also why I bought some DVD-RW as well to avoid wasting media...

NO, I found the solution with trying 2 things at the same time :

1/ I added an AUDIO_TS folder, although I still do not know if it is mandatory or not.

2/ I changed my burning method, cause I was not confident in RecordNow Max Dx. I retrieved the very good imgtool.exe cause my image file option of IFOEdit did not work. So I generated image file and then used RecordNow to bunr the raw image on the disc instead of burning a data disc from the folder.

I do not know which of the 2 changes made it, but now it works perfectly on the Sony DVP-NS700V !!!

So I can enjoy Lord of the rings on 2 DVDs ! Great ! Chapter access does not seem to wotk very good however I do not care you are not supposed to use it with good movies and that's the only kind of movies I intend to burn !!!

See Ya ! Yipeee ! First success at 2nd try !
