Create AVCHD DVD in Nero Vision....a waste of time?

I have tried (for curiosity's sake) to create an AVCHD DVD in Nero Vision but the sound is always out of sync.Does this facility only work if you are burning a HD source or can you use it to burn an ordinary file?
