Windows is slow to start up:
Go to: start - run - type: msconfig - go to the start-up tab and un-check programs you don't need to start up with your computer. Now go to: Start - My computer - and right click the "C" drive, select properties, then go to the tools tab, and click defragment

Why is that relevant here? By posting that you've just trolled this thread. Way to go hypocrite.
stopthej, is it a recent problem that's suddenly made your pc much slower, or are you just after something more responsive?
Clearing out your browser cache, defragmenting, deleting some files and removing programs from the startup list are simple options, then you could add more RAM, or if still not happy, then go with a faster CPU (and likely motherboard), the hard drive isn't that often the problem.

OP has had two racist posts removed. Maybe you didn't know that. This one is obviously frivolous.

How is this frivolous? The man was to make his damn PC faster. If you backup your files and re-install windows that should help. Windows tends to big down after a while. More RAM is also a cheap way of improving performance.
If you are looking for a MAJOR performance boost a new build should be in order.

Either way, Indochine you have not contributed anything useful to this thread.
No more replies defending yourself please.
for clarity's sake, the questions I asked are repeated here:
stopthej, is it a recent problem that's suddenly made your pc much slower, or are you just after something more responsive?
Clearing out your browser cache, defragmenting, deleting some files and removing programs from the startup list are simple options, then you could add more RAM, or if still not happy, then go with a faster CPU (and likely motherboard), the hard drive isn't that often the problem.
