i have tried everything - well what i could think of anyway. i have run numerous scans; virus, spyware, malware etc. i keep getting avgas.exe is corrupted on a file on my external hard drive - I have tried to go into the folder and deleted but it tells me that the folder is also corrupted. I don't know if this helps but I ran hijackthis and here is the log - at least maybe i can get laptop to run faster anyway - any help would be greatly appreciated.

anytime i have a folder that i can't delete because "it's being used by another program" or any other reason i use a program called Unlocker, use it right after you try and delete it and it will give you the option to "kill the process", just google it, it might help
