Conversion speeds, who's fastest?

n00b alert!

I've been putting episodic TV on my iPod video from DVD using DVD Shrink to reauthor and isolate individual episodes and then Handbrake to convert. The Shrink step takes all of 4 minutes but Handbrake takes an hour to convert a 46 minute episode. Is there a program that runs faster? And maybe in one step? It seems like a losing proposition to spend an hour plus to watch 45 minutes of TV.

take a look at http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/297023 this step by step guide convert DVDs and all kinds of videos like avi, mpeg etc to ipod using cucusoft, it will convert dvds directly into ipod format in one step.
