Picture Tuning a 55" Sony Grand Wega

I recently purchased a 55" Sony Grand Wega 3LCD rear projection television. I am having trouble tuning the picture to my liking mostly due to all of the blacks on the screen "Blending together" The picture looks great for the rest of a scene the brighter colours are vibrant but the blacks and other dark colours seem to just blur together.

I am using:

Sony PS3 with HDMi
LG up-converting DVD player with HDMI
Viewsat satellite reciever with S-video

Does anyone have any tips or idea as to how i might go about tuning the picture to correct the issues with the dark colours. I have heard mention of a DVD that you can purchase that helps amateurs like myself tune the picture on HDTV's

Any help would be great.
