I've been trying these and they seem impossibly restrictive if you want to use a USB hard drive as you might use one attached to a PC. The recorders I've looked at (Samsung, LG, Sansui, Philips, Sony) don't seem able to use a drive set up as NTFS (it must be FAT32) and you can't write from the internal HDD to an attached USB HDD. There are also all sorts of limitations regarding the number of files, file types, etc. Am I missing something or is this restricted ability deliberate on the part of manufacturers - some sort of attempt to prevent illicit copying?
