Automatic editing of subtitles with TmpgDvdAuthor 3

I'm using TmpgEnc Dvd Author 3.0.9.166 and importing Digital TV/Transport Stream Recordings with Subtitles (SRT format).

The problem is if when editing the video (to remove ads), the related subtitles are not automatically removed (like the audio is).
This results in the video and the subtitles being out of sync. It is then very difficult to manually try and sync it back together (even if trying the "Shift start time" option (which only goes down to seconds).

Also, I've noticed some disks produced have the subtitles automatically show when played, others don't. Is there an option to disable subtitles by default when playing?
