My computer is running real slow. It takes a long time to load programs, web pages take forever (I have cable) and youtube vids wont even open. If I try to print it takes about 20 min to print one webpage. Is this bad ram?

How much RAM do you have? What are your computers specs?

Maybe you just need to do some maintenance on your PC. Disc clean-up and Defrag your HDD to start with, Do a virus scan. Remove programs you don't need.

I use CCleaner to keep my computers healthy.

Download and install CCleaner:
http://www.ccleaner.com/
The default settings should be OK, but set a restore point before running.

Make sure you don't have a bunch of stuff running in the background:
Task manager > Processes > click "User Name" to sort the list > See what you have running.

Unplug the power cord and open the case, blow out the CPU heatsink and fan with canned air. Be careful not to touch the circuit boards (static electricity can damage them) and don't let the air spin the fan.

Its a Dell Dimention 2400 with 512 of ram. I just reinstalled the OS (XP Pro) on two seperate HDs and the proplem remains. I don't have any software installed except what comes on the reinstall and the driver for my printer.

After the first drive was running slow, I removed it completle and installed and reformatted a new drive, which also ran slow.

I checked my systems and it says Pentium 4 2.7ghz, 256 RAM.

Could that be my problem, only half the ram is working?

or at least not recognised. That is definitely the problem. PCs with 256MB RAM just can't cut it in today's world, no wonder it's slow!

presuming you are using 2 sticks of ram then try 1 stick of ram in 1 slot at a time to see which stick or which slot is causing the problem.
