recently i decided to change my nero package from nero 6 to nero 7 but now have found that my liteon 1633s for some reason cannot read dvd data discs. All other discs are fine like normal dvds and games and it even recognizes the blanks on which i did all my backups on.I also cannot get autorun to work again although i can eject from shell command on screen with the mouse.i have come to this forum as i have tried updating firmware(cannot update wont let me),using the microsoft autorunfix(nothing happened),tried to use nero clean(errors -would not let me continue!) everything has failed but i know this drive is o.k as it recognizes items on the disc in safe mode!but struggles to veiw larger size files like photos & films. If anybody has had the same problems could you please let me know how to fix this .I think it may have something to do with the drivers or a ide conflict or something but i do know the dma is o.k.,i am quite happy to go back to using nero 6 but now my pc cannot install it properly!

Sorry did not read your post correctly to start.
It sounds like you have a bigger problem than Nero.
You might want to go to a restore point.
And /or uninstall the DVD and IDE drives.
Powertoys should fix the autorun.

Do you have a log to post.
Nero 6 Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt
Nero 7 Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt

To remove Nero use the clean tools.
http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/Clean_Tools.html

I would run both the 6 and 7 tools.

Stable version of Nero 6 - v 6.6.0.18

Stable version of Nero 7 - v 7.5.9.0a
http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/tech/?1901

Lastest version Nero - v 7.10.1.0

sorry i had dissapeared for a few days!o.k almost fixed everything apart from when i click on my computer my dvd/cd combo shows up as a cd drive as is misleading the liteon drive somehow.i know somebody knows how to fix either by registry adjustment or by sevices as i found info within another thread somewhere else....it reads........Does the drive show up ad a dvd rom in my computer? If not, you have turned off the service that reads the drive specs, and it just considers it a generic cd-rom. You will need toturn that service back on. If this is it, I will guide you to the correct service...................but the guy who posted this never came back to tell you how to do it!!!i am just hoping someone within the afterdawn forums could do such a thing and make my life sweet again!

It may be IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service.
I do not think that is the trouble.
Is your OS X?

Do you have a log?

not sure of what log to post, but, this evening it read one of my dvdbackup discs,(name of film, size of file etc. shown)unfortunately would not play the films i had on them ,it showed an error saying "internal error!".Anyway when opening 'my computer', in the 'type' of drive column it still says its a cd drive!when it blatantly knows different due to the bios ,nero tools etc. saying its a liteon dvd/cd drive.i am starting to think it has something to do with how windows reads dvd's & cd's,or windows cannot work out it has a dvd drive in it. or maybe a codec problem conflicting.i know i changed some settings in the nero buring rom in version 7 so i could put mameps2 onto a dvd before i deleted it.i think i adjusted the udf settings and changed something into mode 2!?!maybe thats buggered the registry up...or something dead simple.just weird it can read the discs to tell me whats on them but not play them.
