I recently purchased an mp3 player and I have a PC running windowsXP. I want to start ripping my CDs. I am debating three different action plans. Please give me your feedback on these choices:

1. Rip using Windows Media Player at 192 kbps per second. Then copy the files to my mp3 player. This should produce fairly good music files that do not consume much space.

2. Download music software that can produce FLAC files. Then rip my CDs to FLAC files, and put the FLAC files on my mp3 player. This will give me lossless files, which may be better. However, the FLAC files will consume large amounts of storage space. My mp3 player holds 12gb, so I could store a fair number of songs even in FLAC format.

3. Download music software that can produce FLAC and mp3 files. Then rip my CDs to BOTH FLAC and mp3 formats. Keep the FLAC files as a backup of my CDs. Put the mp3 files on my mp3 player. This would give me a lossless backup of my CDs, and a compact source of music for my mp3 player. However, it would be quite time-consuming.

So should I go with plan 1, 2, or 3?
