convert PAL to NTSC

I want to make a copy of a DVD a friend of mine has loaned me, however the DVD is in PAL format (hes from England) and my DVD system is NTSC here in the United States. (I think i'm region 0)
Are there any programs that could convert the DVD so I can copy it in the proper format (USA DVD player friendly)---preferably one thats fairly simple to use since i'm not exactly a computer whiz.

DVD Flick should be able to convert your NTSC disc to PAL, but I've not researched this feature yet. Also being in the USA you are in Region 1, but this isn't necessarily the problem. When you burn, if your burner is set up and capable it should made the result region free.

If you copy the files to your hard drive and then use NeroVision(Dvd Video- Make Movie etc) it will re-encode your files and tell you they are pal or ntsc and give you the option to change these and you can set the burn result to be region free

Downoad and install "IFOEDIT". Rip the DVD to your hard drive. Open the hard drive files with IFOEDIT and click on every line with PAL. Change PAL to NTSC in the box and then save the edited files.

Burn the files on your hard drive and you should be good to go. Note that some DVD players may be a little jerky because of the different frame rates, etc but most should work.
