I?m trying to help my parents upgrade to a home theater system and have a number of hurdles to overcome. I think that ill just split my questions into the appropriate forums to try and get more concise answers.

I heard that for any TV 37" and under LCD am better, while any TV 50" and over plasma is better. I?m leaning closer to 50 inches so plasma is probably the way to go but most of the sets i?ve seen include this hdcp crap. Are there any quality brands that are hdcp free or should I just take my chances?

Also I was wondering if there are any specific brands that include new technology that will provide better overall performance. The only things that will be hooked up to this system will be a dish network hd-box/dvr and a 1080p up convert player (no hd-dvd or blu-ray).

One last thing i?ve heard a rumor that hdmi cables over 10 feet don't exist. This could be a big problem because there can't be any visible cords. The plan is to run all the cables through the floor into the basement then backup to an enclosed stand of some sort, this would require a cord 25 feet or more (i'm trying to balance functionality with aesthetics).

Ok i've found 25' hdmi cables (must have been looking at crappy equipment/brands).

I could use some Suggestions for a TV around 50" most likely plasma because burn in really isn't a potential problem.

The setup i'm trying to create has to last at least 8 to 10 years (yes I know a long time but not my decision). So I need advice on HDCP, should I get all equipment with hdcp or vice versa.

Well I clicked that link in your sig and I feel like a moron I was searching under hdcp, didn't even think to look in the guides section for hdmi.
Anyways very enlightening, I guess this means were all screwed.

Hdcp and hdmi are two different things. As for hdcp compliant devices my 3.5 year old hdtv supports hdcp. I think as long as you buying new there
is no problem.
