Hi I built myself a new pc, at first it seemed fine untill I tried to convert a xvid file, the pc just restarted then just b4 windows logo it restarted again, did this 4 times b4 coming on properly.

Checked the cpu temp and it got upto 54 while running the xvid convert software, I added more fans and seemed to work.

Then brother decided he wanted pc, but when he played a game it crashed/froze after half hour, so we put it down to cpu overheat again and I bought a better heatsink/fan, which again seemed to work.

But basically it did run for 7 hours straight while playing his game, but it was a cold night, then when weathers hot the pc crashes after half an hour or more.

PC Spec:
Dabs Value Alien Gaming Case 480W Power Supply
Asustek AM2 Via K8T890 ATX Audio Lan Dual DDR2 SATA
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ AM2 2.8GHz(bought an Akasa heatsink/fan with heatpipe)
Corsair Memory TWIN2X2048-6400 2x1GB 240-Pin DIMM XMS2-6400 CL5
Sapphire Technology Radeon X1550 512MB DDR2 PCIE DVI-I TVO DVI(didnt have fan)
Samsung SpinPoint P120 250GB UDMA133
HP DVD 435i DVD-ROM Drive Retail
Pioneer DVR-112BK 18X +/-RW/RAM BLACK IDE DRIVE
Belkin G Wireless PCI Adaptor
Akasa 80mm Crystal Blue case Fan - Blue LED x2
Microsoft Win XP Home SP2B OEM

Any sugestions welcome, why does it keep crashing.

We checked memory 1 at a time, no difference
Upgraded Heatsink/fan, Slightly better

Toshiba Equium M50-164
14" WideScreen
1.73Ghz Intel Centrino CPU
1024MB Memory Upgraded from 512MB
60GB HD

What power supply came with the case? Usually, they are inferior PSU's.

It was a Dabs own value brand 480Watts, its got got the grill in bottom for taking hot air away from cpu.

Also there was a 120mm fan in top of case, then I added another 120mm in rear of case and 2x 80mm in side of case.

The power supply is terrible. get a decent power supply like a Corsair HX 520W and the problem will probably go away.
