Try Vizio. Reasonably priced (if you go to Sears, for example, the 42" 1080p LCD will be around $1200. You may get a discount for purchasing electronics for over a certain price threshold - be sure to ask.), the picture is great! We have one!

About that video card - that's a bit dated. You may have to upgrade to a newer, more powerful model. Does your PC have PCI-E? That'd make things a lot easier for you!

Hope this helps!

I have Dish Net and am looking for a TV as well. Does this VIZIO LCDs display Dish good?

I am not looking at viewing any HD content, only Dish TV and DVD movies. If I get a Vizio, do you suggest component, svideo, or RCA cables for the best picture? I will have no HDMI.

Thanks

Component for you dvd player so that you can use progressive scan. Either component if you have an output for it on your dish net receiver or if not use s-video.

Thanks for your help. I just got the 37" Vizio from Walmart and I noticed DVD look good but I need to get component out of my Lite-On DVD recorder to the TV.

My standard def dishnet looks a bit pixelated. Currently I am 9 ft. from the 37" TV, maybe moving back to 14 ft. will help the standard def.

thats the downside of SDTV...i got tired of standard on my LCD and wetn for the HD directv package seeing as they have alot more hd channels and soon alot more in the next few months.....standard looks really horrible on plasma/LCD's thats how they kinda get u....So since u bought a new lcd panel u should think abuut investing in upgrading ur dishnet/dvd or get OTA antenna....i know sux to have to be kinda forced to upgrade when u just spent a loud of money on a new tv....just my 2 cents....

yeah i know what u mean. I returned the Vizio and got a Sharp 37" 1200: 1 and an upconvert dvd player. The dvds look really nice, and standard is exactly what it is labeled "standard" I think I will wait until Feb 2009 until I can get the most out of HD programming.

I just jumped into this 2 days ago with HD LCD, cant imagine what the rest of the world does in the last 6 years. Spending money on HD programming only to get ~30 channels from a 720p broadcast source.

Once HD programming is full blown and they have no more format "HD" Disc war, it will all be utopian television.
