Sorry, but e = the, just say it properly, please.

I have a Jap 1000K (1st model) and that's fine, so it's not hardware based.

Maybe some problem with the Recovery settings?

You could downgrade to 1.50 and then back up again?

Most common problem with ISO or CSO files no showing is do to ISO file Name.

Check and make sure the file name is short for the ISO.

Example:

Correct -- Fifa07.iso
Not Correct -- FIFA-07-[PSP][EUR][www.torrent site.com].iso

Also go into recovery mode and make sure the following options are disabled.

Now go to ADVANCED and press X then to ADVANCED CONFIGURATION and press X.

Make sure all the settings here are disabled.

What has me boggled is you said he placed his friends Memory Stick in his PSP and it showed the ISO and he played it. If he can use his friends memory stick and see the ISO game file and play it but can't when he uses his Memory Stick. Then more then likly it is a file name problem or a Memory Stick problem and not hardware or flashing related.
