Using Nero recoder to make Archos compatible AVI from VOB

Could someone please tell me if it is possible to use Nero Recoder to convert a non copy protected DVD (VOB) movie into an MPEG-2.AVI (Simple profile) format that will play on my Archos AV700. I have tried various options including checking the Simple Profile option under Advanced but it still does not work.

Hi Catweasel
I don't have the Archos but I have the Zen W which accepts similar formats.
I too have tried Recode Digital - several options and profiles and no luck so far. The mpeg4 that it creates hasn't been compatible.

Give CloneDVDMobile a go - has a free trial - it supports and has a lot of different profiles - Archos included. link

Yes, However, you will need to convert the file to divx. I used clonedvdmobile to convert to divx.avi. I too have a AV700. Hope this help.
