External High Def Video Card for Laptops?

hi there - first posting here so please be gentle..

I've recently got myself an InFocus IN76 high def projector
which is receiving component input from the xbox360, and hdmi input from a dvd upscaler.

What i also wanted to do is play high def x264 and mkv movie files from the laptop and have been trying different ways to do this -
what i thought would be the best way was to stream & transcode through the 360, but for some reason this always results in loss of audio sync and repeated pauses (presumably for processing).

Having given up on this, ive tried playing the video files on the laptop using a combination of the CCCP codec and media player classic . . . playback is perfect and flawless, except im let down by the hardware end of things:

Currently im viewing the output via SVideo into the projector, so there is clearly a loss of resolution there. i tried connecting the laptop to the projector via VGA, but the laptop VGA is analog, and the projector VGA socket is for digital.

So, in summary, i would like your estemmed advice on the best solution:
a) how can i stream HD content to the Xbox 360 via my network, without audio sync and glitching issues?
b) OR can i get something which converts the VGA analog signal to VGA digital?
c) OR is there some sort of USB 2 External Video Card for Laptops which i could run the laptop's video output through and into the back of the projector in high def?

. . . the other alternative would be to find a way that i can burn the files onto a dual layer dvd to play on the 360's HDDVD drive, but it looks like you guys have exhausted that possibility in other threads on here..

hmm . . . it seems a minor oversight on my behalf could potentially be the answer to my problems . . here's hoping so! :)

well i hope that works for you to some extent but one problem may still be with HD content.
You don't mention your laptop specs but you should be looking for specs similar to a decent desktop gaming PC in order to output the HD in the resolutions you expect and gamers dont usually buy laptops.
