Samsung DVD+RW installation problem

Hey on my dell inspiron 700m I have an NEC DVD+RW ND6650A but I just bought a SAMSUNG 8X DVD±R Slim DVD Burner With 5X DVD-RAM Write Black E-IDE/ATAPI Model SN-S082D - OEM off newegg.com and when I tried to install the drive it looks like the connecting pins are on oppisite sides compared to my NEC drive. The connecting pins of the NEC drive are on the right side of the drive and stick out and the connecting pins of the samsung drive are on the left side of the drive and dont stick out. So i guess that this means that my new samsung drive is not compatible with my dell 700m. Correct? If the samsung drive is not compatible than can you recommend an internal drive that is compatible?
