I am trying to get some of my cds onto my computer so that I may burn them onto a cd-r for my MP3 player I am getting woo! I have nero and the only mp3 encoder that I have is the trial verision which will run out shortly with nero. Is there any free mp3 encoders that are good? the one that came with nero doesnt have very good compression and a five min. song ends up being like 50 MB..
~Thanks

Use ExactAudioCopy + Lame.
You'll get best possible mp3 quality. A EAC setup guide is mentioned in this forum quite often, you'll find it using the search function.

Alright..ill try that then. however last night I used Nero to rip the cda's to wav's and then tried to use razorlame to convert wav to mp3...but it kept saying that lame preformed an illegal operation..grrr...will EAC go straigt from cda to mp3?

Yes. With proper tagging / naming. (It'll create temporary .wav files that are deleted automatically).

I have to say after trying to get LAME to work it wasnt worth it. It kept preforming illegal operations even after downloading it 3 times from different places.
I just got music match however and it works great. It converts wav. to mp3 and rips straight to mp3 from a cd. Plus its free..its very user friendly. I reccomend musicmatch to anyone who is ripping or converting music.
