So I am using subtitles workshop to add my own subs to a movie, it is a great program and everything works well, the only issue that I am having, is that I want to make some subs a different color, so I right click on it > set color > and pick the color. I can see a code entered for the color and everything, but when I save it, and play it, it wont show up the color I wanted. Does any one know if .SRT files support color? Should I save the subtitles under another file format? Is this a subtitle worshop issue or a file issue? I have searched the forum but could not find a answer to this specific problem, any help is appreciated, Thanks

It's not a Subtitle Workshop issue. Some subtitle formats support color and some don't. SRT subs store text and timing but not color. It really depends upon what you mean by "add my own subs to a movie".

Are you adding the subs by playing the subtitle file as a separate file alongside the video, hardburning the subs onto the video, reauthoring the subs to a DVD?

If you're playing the subs alongside the video, and you want to manipulate the color of the subs, then SRT subs aren't the way to go. SSA subs, for example, will save color info.

I'm familiar with SRT/SUP files and reauthoring to DVD, so I can't help you much with the other options.

well.. I will eventually embed the subtitles into the .AVI file I have, and yes, I am making them from scratch, I am currently playing them side to side with VLC media player but i guess .SRT files wont show colors, any suggestions to a subtitle file I can later merge with a .AVI file that will keep the colors?
