I have been using DC++ with a private hub for a long time (a few years), and suddenly I'm unable to sustain download speeds. It happened some time this summer. When I start DC++ the downloads will start off fine (around 200 kbps, which is the limit of my line), but after a while they slow down to around 20-40 kbps. They will stay there until I either close the connection and restart the download forcibly or break it in another way (like pulling the network plug or restarting DC++). I have tried installing DC on another computer and connecting it directly to the broadband modem instead of through my Linux firewall, but that doesn't change anything at all.
Does anybody know what the reason may be? I upgraded to the latest version of DC++ when the problem first appeared, but that didn't change anything. So I only see two possible resons: There is something funky going on in the hub, or my provider has put in some kind of block. I doubt that it's the latter since it didn't matter that I changed the port for my active connection, from 455 to 1412. And FTP downloads and other downloads aren't affected, even though I sometimes download from an FTP for hours at a time.
I'd appreciate an explanation, if anybody has one!
