I downloaded a zip file and unzipped it to my desktop. I tried to open the folder and it says "C:\Documents and Settings......is not accessible." So then I tried to delete it and it says that "Cannot delete...access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use." I searched online for the resolution for this problem and did what people in the forums told me to do. I did the following already:
1) Restarted the computer
2) Restarted the computer in Safe Mode and then tried to delete
3) Made sure I was on the Admin account
4) Opened up cmd.exe and tried to manually delete the folder from there. When I tried to do that, it also said "Access is denied."
I hovered over the folder to see if there was anything inside (since I couldn't open the folder itself) and it said that the folder was empty. I can't do ANYTHING with this folder! All I want to do is delete it! HELP!
Oh, and when I uncheck the "Read-Only" box and click Apply, then OK...it won't hold. When I right click and go to Properties again, the Read-Only box is checked off again. On top of that, when I'm in the Properties and trying to access the Security tab, it'll say, "You do not have permission to view or edit the current permission settings for FOLDERNAME, but you can take ownership or change auditing settings." Note that I'm already on the Admin account.
OMG! I finally fixed it! Through a load of research, I found the solution. Well, I'll explain how I solved this issue, just in case somebody comes across this problem.
If you can't open the folder or delete it:
Right-click Properties
Click Security (mine said that I didn't have permission to edit or view)
Click Advanced
Select the Administrator
Check the Replace...box
Then OK
Make sure the folder is not "Read-Only." If it is, uncheck the box and you should be able to delete the folder. Hope this helps to those who run into this problem.

Thanks.Good solution.Another one would be ending tasks that you think are using it by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete and opening the task manager.When that is done,open the processes and end the processes of which you think may be using the file you are trying to delete.It works for me sometimes.
