I like to have a USB (or other, if necessary) HDTV stick handy when traveling so I'm not HDTV-deprived while in another city. I've tried the Hauppage 950 and the Diamond HDTV100 sticks but without much luck. Of course they both run OK (very slowly, but OK) on the XP partition I keep for just such uses.

I'm running ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty) on an IBM Thinkpad T40, which has marginal CPU power, I know, but was hoping to recover a little power from switching from XP.

I'm not very experienced with Wine, but it looks like Wine may be a solution to using the XP software. Anybody got this going?

Also, which player works best with HDTV? VLC?
