Converting a MKV file to avi....?

Is there software that allows you to do this?
I can play the MKV file fine, but want to convert it burn onto DVD.

you might want to check out the Matroska (mkv) to DVD conversion guides at the matroska site:

Try changing the filename from .MKV to .ISO, and burning with Disk Utility.
