ok this is wierd. To give you the setup on this, I am using vso's DivXtoDVD to convert my files to play on my standalone dvd players. I have a few diffrent players and some of them also happen to play Divx by themselves though i DONOT ever burn data discs on cd's as divx and play them that way. I always re-encode and burn dvd. Now the wierd thing is even after doing this and getting the Vob files and burning them these to DVD, they will only play in the players that have Divx support?!?!?!

Now just for info sakes i can use dvdfab to backup any of my other movies straight from the original disk and have had no problems playing theses on ANY of my players but try and convert my avi/divx to dvd/vob and they will only play in my divx enabled players.

Now my terminoligy my be completly wrong when i try and say this so please, give me a break if i'm wrong and but do correct me, i wana know; I thought that by RE-Encoding the files the softwere was in fact STRIPPING one form of format Completely changing it frame by frame to another. If this "IS" the case why am i having this issue??

Thanks in advance.

In my case, it happens that my DivX player will play PAL DVD's, so if I don't specify 'NTSC' on the conversion it doesn't matter, but my other player won't accept them.
If the converter is set 'Automatic' then a PAL AVI will convert to a PAL DVD - the same if the AVI is NTSC, I get an NTSC DVD.

UPDATE: OK!! that was the issue. Never even thought to look, it WAS auto running the files to a PAL format and it just so happens that the 2 players that are Divx players will also play PAL. hehe go figure.

Now new problem. i have used 2 dirrent programs with 2 diffrent results.

While using VSO DivxtoDvD converting a xvid/avi in PAL format to a DVD that is NTS i am getting Blocking on the screen. not sure if thats the right description but when there is a fast change in light to dark to Motion i get this pixilation that is Green blocks..

so, i tried DVD FLICK. no blocking ot color pixilation but when the movie starts there is no sound. but it a Fastforward or rewind for a sec (or more makes no differnce) the sound comes back on. also seems like if i get a fade out on screen i loose sound and have to restart it by FF or RW the scean...

?????? any ideas on these ones guys??? does it have to do with going from PAL format to NTS or ???

Thanks in advance

Hi,

VSO DivXToDVD is real old, and a lot has changed since.

Their new Shareware software is called VSO ConvertXtoDVD.

There use to be a lot of green artifact and all these were fixed with the latest version of ConvertXtoDVD.

If you do not wish to pay for ConvertXtoDVD you will probably need to find an other freeware alternative.

Is the video or audio problem apparent on the converted file, (before burning)when viewed on the PC with the media player?
