I have this movie that is DVD ripped on my system and I'm trying to burn it onto my blank DVD, I try to compress it into a MPEG but keep getting a reading Non Code Error Message I tried Everything, Including trying to use WinAVI converter which would just crash ! and freeze what am I doing wrong, I use G-Spot and it shows Render O.K the combination of Filters was Used and I haven't a clue what that mean and why I can't compress it, what would be a good source to download a dvd ripped movie or Compress it to in order to burn it!
Some problems:
1) which kind of error is 'NON CODE'? If 'code' means 'codec', a DVD is encoded in MPEG-2 which is not an AVIcodec, but a codec named mpeg.
2) You cannot compress using FFDShow, since it is a 'suite' of decompressors, it hasn't any compression capabilities. If you want to install a good compressor, install Koepi's XviD, which is read by many DVD players capable to read AVIs and is free, also.
My suggestion is to install AutoGK (http://www.autogk.me.uk/), whose has XviD, too. Load the IFO associated to the main movie and:
- leave all settings to default (codec = XviD - audio: auto - auto width - .AVI format);
- choose output size = 700 MB for a fair quaity, or
- 1400 MB for very godd quality.
Please note, if your DVD Player can read XviD AVI, you can fir three 'very good' movies into a DATA DVD (1400*3 = 4200 and a DVD5 = 4489 MB).
If your DVD player cannot read XviD ACVs, you could think about buying a new player. You'll recover your 50 ? simply saving a certain number of DVD-Rs.
