I had bought a Panasonic DMR-EZ47 DVD/VHS combo recording unit to go with my Vizio only. I don't have cable or satellite or stereo hookup. When I schedule to record a prime time program, such as "Heroes" for Fall 2007 TV season, playback of the dvd captured music and background noise but NO DIALOG! However, commercials come out fine.

But, when I record via the red "Record" button, the dialog is captured for playback and is fine. Can anybody tell me what's going on? Is there a setting I'm missing?

I'm using the default settings: PCM=no; bitstream=yes. I'm using the HDMI cable.
