Hello Masters!
I'm experimenting with VIEWING SVCD NONPERMANENT SUBS ON MY COMPUTER.
I found out the way for it:
Exactly SVCD subs cannot displayed by software players, so I want to add text subtitle files to my SVCD. (So above there was a bit lie.) On my computer I can watch the movie with the txt subs, using dVobsub or something similar program. Want to encode with DVD2SVCD and add some manual work.
The steps:
1) Use DVD2SVCD as usal. (my source: avi with 2 external subs)
2) After finished, adjust the original subs (the same as used to create the SVCD) to the created mpeg files. Get mpeg files from the created .bin with daemon tools.
3) Edit the .XML file, that contains Vcdxbuild params to include the text subtitle file. (for each volumes)
4) From the DVD2SVCD log window copy the VCDXbuild command line to DOS promt and launch. BIN and CUE files will be created including the text sub, and can be watched both on TV (SVCD subs) and on comp (the text subs).
During testing the process I found problems that I cannot solve:
Step 2: Can not adjust subs to created mpeg file. I copyed AVESEQ01.mpg from the first BIN file. Have cut 2s from the beginning of the sub. It now begins in the right place, but a progressive desync appears (sub is faster). I opened it with Zoom player, windows media player.
The Params:
Source avi:23,976 with
External subs: .sub file adjusted and it plays well with the avi
I have already tried the folowing:
To be sure about the timing of the subs, I adjusted it to the times displayed in the Winsubmux log file (In the DVD2SVCD output library). After this, nothing has changed: progressive desync still appeares.
Checked CPU usage during PBC, it was about 60%, never higher than 70%.
During playback I opened dvobsub menu from the icon, displayed on the taskbar, and found something strange: the mpeg codec window shows the average fps. It was about 23.96 and not 23.976 as in the txt sub. Tried to solve this problem with converting the sub to SubRip (thougt it wont be effected, becouse it does not use frames). Problems remained.
I have no more idea, but suspicious about the mpeg codec(?).
Questions: How to adjust the sub to the mpeg?
Why is playbak 23,96 fps? Or this info is fake?
Thanks in advace for any useful ideas
