i have a kvcd (came as an image file) plays ok on pc. I would like to extract the mpeg file. unlike many other kvcds/image files i have this file just starts playing upon insertion into cd/dvd drive. i still have the original bin/cue files on hard drive.
i have attempted to extract mpeg file (with powerISO & magicISO) to no avail. can it be extracted? does the making of a kvcd remove the ability to extract? [color=red][color=red]if anyone can help please[/color][/color]. I would like to make a dvd of the kvcd.

First step.. turn off autorun for the drive, or when it launches whatever media player just exit it.
Browse the disk.. there will be one really big file and a lot of small ones scattered in some folders.. the one you want is called asquev.dat or something like that.. it will be around 700Mb (sorry.. don't have a vcd handy to look at right now, and memory is getting bad)
The big file will already be in mpeg1 format so you should be able to just copy it off the disk and do whatever you want to it. Convert it, compress.. edit, crop, just about anything. The only thing is.. vcd isn't exactly a video quality standard, so don't expect amazing results.

I don't think the KVCD mpegs can be extracted, since to create a KVCD you mux a M1V (video) which is a KVCD MPEG1 video file and a MP2 (mpeg audio); you never add a full MPG file.
But, why are you thring to extrect a KVCD?
If you 'mount' the image with Daemons Tool, it'll be like having a Physical disc on your Virtual Drive unit....

First let me thank both of you. I want to convert this kvcd to a dvd (I going to visit a friends for a movie nite - i live in an apartment so space is limited)
I have dameon tools but i have never used it. i'm going to look and see if there is a guide for it (because i heard that it wasn't so easy to use - I'm not a pc nerd but i can usually work thru programs) I will try your suggestion. If i am able to mount it will I then be able to convert it to dvd format???

ok, I know think i must be stupid. No longer is there a guide for daemon. yes, i have looked at there help, I don't get it. when look it shows the cue in this virtual drive (same with the bin file). i have yet figured out how to open & view the contents of this drive
(if i can get to the dat/daa file) i'd be golden. Thank you guys again
if i don't get it done by sat i'll just go rent something.

Think this is the info you are needing..
RIGHT CLICK the cue file and there should be a menu with "mount on drive x,y,x whatever" in it.
If you have nero or alcohol120% they also have virtual drives you can mount bin/cue pairs on. Mounting an image is similar to burning it to a disk.. point the virtual drive "mount" menu item at the cue file and it will automagically mount the bin part for you. ;-)

remember the difference between vcd and kvcd!! :-)
When the image is mounted it's just like a disk in a dvd or cd drive. Use the same methods as for a real physical disk.. explore, browse or open.

Did you check if your DVD Player can read KVCDs?
Because if it does, converting a KVCD into DVD is useless, and will not increment the movie's quality (garbage IN = garbage OUT).
