Yo, I have a D-Link Wireless Gaming Adapter (DWL-G820) that I hook up to my computer to access the internet from my router... I use Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC and when I start my computer the internet and anything having to do with an internet connection goes BLAZING fast, I mean INSTANT. After about 10 minutes usually, I have NO connection and my downloads come to a halt and internet browsing was a thing in the past... What I do to conquer this annoying loss of connection is log out and then log back in and everything is fast for another 10 minutes and then I have to do it again... what is wrong because im about to start throwing my computer stuff out the window.. Thanks

ok, since no one knows--me being as dumb as I am, I'll try..
I'm going to say ZoneAlarm.? You didn't say you were using ZA, but I have had this happen to me, and it was ZA.
Next suggestion, just to test the theory. If your not using ZA, but you do have a firewall installed. Try turning it off just for troubleshooting. See what happens.

I don't have ZA and i uninstalled McAfee and it seemed to work for a good 6 hours of steady network, I thought that'd be the end of it but now once again every 10 or so minutes everything just dies (my downloads come to a halt, and internet browsing wont work for shit) im about to break things in half.. How do i access my router settings to check if "time-out" is checked?

also when I go to configure my Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC under the "advanced options" these are my settings...
Link Down Power Saving: Disable
Link Speed/Duplex Mode: Auto Negotiate
Network Address: Not Present (there is a option to enter a "value" but I'm not sure if that's the problem or what I should enter, it was originally on Not Present)
Optimal Performance: Enable
Receive Buffer Size: 64K bytes
WakeUp on ARP/PING: Enable
WakeUP on Link Change: Disable
WakeUp using APM Mode: Disable
If anyone knows if any of these settings are incorrect causing me to always lose connection and/or know what settings they should be on please help... THANKS =)

I tried this, and it seems to work:
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt.
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

check the mtu on the router ought to be around 1450 also we've had a prob with some cheap routers that have the timeout set to 5 mins they needed to be set to stay on
