I'm planning on upgrading my GPU from the 8600GTS that came with it to an 8800GTX so I can play Crysis on full. But I don't really understand the requirements on the PSU part, so here's a link with the 8800's requirements: here

and here's a link with my PSU's info: here

Thanks in advance

It should be alright, 34A on the 12V rail should be plenty.

A 500watt? I dont know... You would be cutting it real short. Espicially when the 8800 takes 2 PCI-e connectors.

What are your other system specs?

If a 620W PSU can handle a quad core CPU and two 8800GTXs in SLI (which it can), a 500W could handle one with ease.

Oh alright then... I just remember watching a video on youtube, and the guy had Q6700, 2 8800Ultras in Sli, and watercooling and 10HDDs, but he had a 1000watt PSU. That just seemed kinda odd. But maybe I'm wrong.

The whole thousand watt PSU thing came about because of the cheap nasty 500W PSUs that pop up everywhere, because people's systems wouldn't run on them, it was presumed that 500W wasn't enough. The fact was, all the supply could put out was 200W, and that wouldn't have been enough, 500 would have been ample!

Yeah but geez, 1000watt? He had a 850watt before that, which was perfectly fine. Dont know why he really bought a 1000watt. Must be rich or something,

Well no, motherboard and peripherals, so that includes most if not all the molex connectors. Since a PSU like that will probably use molexes to power a PCIe Power connector...

I'm probably wrong lol but I read it as 17 for the cpu and 17 for the rest which includes harddrives, optical drives, and two 6 pin connectors for the gpu which take four molex connectors between them
(I have the bits left over from my build lol)

it is a bit tight I suppose, how about upgrading to an OCZ Stealthxstream 600W or a Corsair HX 520W? Don't be fooled by the small increase in watts, they're far more capable.
