Ok, I finally figured out how to capture some old home movies with a vhs & a hunk 'o junk device called "XTV 2.0" and Virtual Dub Mod... captured as uncompressed of course... Now I'm using Sony Vegas 7 to edit stuff together and after some trial and error with various 10 sec. encodes - h264, xvid, mpeg2... ect ect...mpeg2 came out the cleanest looking (which was kinda surprising, but whatever works)
I've looked around for a good while for some sort of settings list or instructions or anything that can at least point me in the right direction to get the highest possible quality mpeg2 encode out of Vegas(highest quality balanced with size of course.) I've heard that its possible to encode an .m2v file Vegas, I dunno if thats true... I know Vegas has issues importing .m2v files.
I just don't want to spend hours on end performing more trial and error to figure it all out. Any help or info is much appreciated.
